Heart of Gold is a home birth midwifery practice.
I offer individualized prenatal care for low-risk clients, with a holistic and humanistic approach that focuses on the whole person. A healthy pregnancy, that ultimately culminates in a home birth, requires a level of commitment and dedication on behalf of the client that is specific to the out-of-hospital setting. Though pregnant individuals are ultimately the ones who make this happen (since prenatal care is what happens between our visits: it's how we eat, sleep, move, think, feel, and take care of ourselves in our every day lives that is the most impactful), sometimes overall well-being be bolstered with small (or big) suggestions that can help optimize one's experience, helping to alleviate or even bypass some of the common discomforts or issues that may arise in pregnancy. It is my goal to foster and encourage this inner knowledge and strength throughout pregnancy, during labor, and into new parenthood, whether it’s your first, second, or 5th baby.
I strongly believe (and have seen) that good nutrition, movement, and overall health are the cornerstones to a healthy pregnancy and postpartum. As such, herbs, plant based supplements and remedies, and holistic and "alternative" modalities will be recommended and encouraged throughout pregnancy. The combination of all these approaches will help you feel stronger physically, and more centered and empowered. By cultivating and fine-tuning these aspects, we see stronger pregnancies, babies, and postpartums.
Midwifery care for all
As a biracial woman, I am keenly aware of the maternal health disparities among women/pregnant individuals of color in the childbearing year, and am committed to doing my part to improve this (however big or small). As well, I proudly offer inclusive care to LGBT, queer, and non-binary folx.
Sliding scale offered for Medicaid clients.
